Apartment Description
The Historic Biggs Building offers a distinctive off-campus living option inside a true Richmond landmark, where timeless character meets modern convenience. Thoughtfully restored, this iconic building preserves original architectural details while... offering updated apartment homes designed for independent, city-center living. With flexible layouts and contemporary finishes, the Biggs Building is ideal for those seeking a space that supports both focused days and vibrant nights. Its central location near Richmond’s universities, dining, arts, and cultural destinations makes it a natural choice for residents who want the freedom of off-campus living with the character of a historic address.
Loved it here! Maintenance was always quick with fixes, if you live on the west side of the building, be ready to always hear whatever band that’s playing at Cobra Cabana, but the plus of that is that if you want some nightlife and don’t know where to find it, you’ll always hear it! Floors are a little creaky, the only time you’ll hear your neighbors is through the floorboards which isn’t horrible. Only reason I can’t give 5 stars is because of the floors themselves. My unit at least, had very old, worn-down flooring, so worn down to the point where the floorboards close to the windows would often have bugs crawling around them; tiny bugs, but still bugs. My roommate with the window would often find carpet beetles in her room, likely from all the cracks in the floors. But for a Richmond apartment, it’s worth your while! Super close to vcu campus and the bus station along with all the other fun things in the area. Trash pickup was always on-time, they never missed a day. The in-unit laundry is high-end, as well as the bathrooms. Utility costs were fairly priced, and it’s a good bang for your buck if you’re looking for a decent amenity-living space! Loved the tall ceilings, got many compliments on them. I’ll miss it here, and honestly it’ll be hard to beat this place. Biggs will always have my heart, full of so many memories:)
Property Manager Responded: Thank you for your feedback! We’re so glad you enjoyed your time at Biggs and appreciate your kind words. We also value the areas you highlighted and will continue working to improve the resident experience. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter!

Mold, Something is always broken / malfunctioning
I have lived here for about 4 years. They had a change in management and suddenly any repairs take weeks. I had to convince them to care about black mold growing in the apartment for weeks. Most appliances are pretty old and often need maintenance.

Fleas, mites, and major noise problems.
I've lived in this apartment since last October now. I moved in with a clean one year old indoor cat and never seen a flea on him for his whole life. It's now May and I have a Major flea infestation and mites in my hair, he has never been outside or left this apartment. I've been cleaning for a month straight and they just keep getting worse I've sprayed vacuumed and got it out of my whole apartment trying to get rid of them and they've gotten worse they must be coming from someone else's apartment or or the cracks in the bricks walls. Also I can literally hear my neighbor sneeze and every one of her conversations. I had two friends over on a friday night for some drinks and had the cops called on me because the walls are paper. thin. It's misreable. I have to stay silent in an expensive apartment and have bugs crawl all over me. Other than that the office is friendly and maintenance is fast when called, location is also super convenient other than the fact that street parking is awful. I have a year left on my lease and I will be trying to sublease out. Great apartment if you like bugs and hearing your neighbor break up with her boyfriend once a week.
